Unkle Karl Puts Crystal In A Chanel Ad!

Kind of.

Crystal Renn poses alongside Baptiste Giabiconi in a new ad for the reopening of the Chanel store in SoHo.

So it’s not a major campaign, but considering Karl Lagerfeld‘s previous opinions on larger women, we’d say this is a big deal.

No pun intended!

Yum!

Karl Lagerfeld was in good company on Friday afternoon as he, his muse Baptiste Giabiconi and “bodyguard” Sebastien Jondeau walked around the streets of St. Tropez.

Baptiste looks awfully happy in those short shorts of his — and we’re sure Karl is too!

Louboutins Won’t Go Down Market

christianlouboutin.jpg

Ever since Isaac Mizrahi teamed up with Target seven years back, designer budget lines have grown more and more popular. Back then, it was a bold move and proved a wise one as well; as the designer recently said, “I had a very successful line at Target.”

Other designers wanted in on that success: since then Target has hosted an impressive list of designers, most recently working with greats like Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen, and Rodarte, whose collection hits stores in just a few weeks. Not to mention Jean Paul Gaultier, who only recently announced plans to collaborate with the discount retailer.

Designers weren’t the only ones who wanted a piece of the pie, Kohl’s, H&M, and Macy’s are just a few of the lower-priced retailers that jumped on the bandwagon. H&M has been markedly successful in pulling in high-end and well known fashion forward designers, starting with Karl Lagerfeld back in 2004. Since then, the budget-clothier has worked with the likes of Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garcons, Matthew Williamson, and most recently, Jimmy Choo.

Despite the profound success of these lines (which normally sell out in days, sometimes hours) Christian Louboutin wants nothing to do with them.

At a Bergdorf Goodman shoe signing earlier today in NYC, the luxury shoe designer remarked that H&M “proposed to me to do the diffusion line and I declined. Not that I don’t think it’s an interesting idea, but it’s a lot of work really, so it’s just difficult for me to do it.” When asked if he would ever consider doing one in the future, a simple “No,” was the answer.

Of course, it’s not like Louboutin needs the money. His cheapest shoes start at about $565 and they still fly off the shelves, even in this economy. His name has become synonymous with high-end quality footwear.

Blohan Did Not Take The Fashion World By Storm

Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella Versace have nothing to worry about, because it looks like they are still the top constipated zombies in fashion. Blohan’s debut collection for Ungaro failed to make some of the critics jizz in their chonies. Blohan didn’t actually design any of this shit, she was merely the “artistic adviser.” I’m guessing it means she was in charge of cutting the lines and making sure the cokepants could at least store a gram.

WWD called the collection, designed by Estrella Archs, a complete “embarrassment.” They also said, “As for the clothes, they looked cheesy and dated, as has often been the case during chez Ungaro’s post-Emanuel revolving door of designers. Hot pink, orange and flashy, with an overworked heart motif relentless in its execution, the collection displayed none of the promised younger side Lohan was supposed to deliver. Nor in a million years would one guess that the lineup was designed by one young woman and ‘creative directed’ by another. Glitter heart pasties all around, ladies? For Lohan, she’ll weather the criticism, hardly her first or her juiciest, and move on when her contract allows. But Archs has her work cut out for her. Backstage after the show, she said the collection ‘had to be designed very quickly.’ Perhaps that was the problem. This storied house has been in disarray for years, and though Archs’ debut provided no indication that she’s up to the challenge, she should be given the chance to find out without a younger, non-skilled judge with theoretical veto power hovering about.

You know, I actually like these whore clothes, because it looks like it was something that came out of the vagina of the 1980s. I mean, if a grown-up Rainbow Bright fell on hard times and had to peddle her wares on the ho stroll, she’d wear this shit for sure. Give me pasties, bare titties, almost exposed crotch areas and I’m happeh!

As for Blohan’s face/lips situation, there’s really nothing more to say. Blohan is making Courtney Love look like a pure teardrop from the eye of a virgin angel. Just hit Ctrl+Alt+BITCHLOOKSBEAT.

Coffee Table Full Of Grace (Coddington)

gracecover.jpg

It’s no secret that while The September Issue follows Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it is creative director Grace Coddington who surfaces as the unobtrusive heroine of the film.

Now, fans can rejoice at the prospect of having a little more Grace in their living rooms.

In 2002, Coddington published Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue, a 400-page illustrated coffee table book which features photos from such renowned photographers as Mario Testino, a foreward by Karl Lagerfeld and an introduction by Anna Wintour herself.

Unfortunately, the book is currently out of print, and the few copies that are still available range from $630 for a used copy to $1,288 for a collector’s edition.

All hope is not lost, though: there is talk of republishing the pricey tome, and Grace is fully behind it. A Vogue rep said, “Yes, Grace would be delighted to see Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue come back in print, though updated to included stories that have come about in the meantime.”

When asked about a memoir, though, the rep said, “no, she has had no offers to write a memoir, which is fine by her, because she really just wants to style beautiful pictures.”

Sounds good to us!

Although, get her some offers ASAP!
