Taylor Swift sings and plays the guitar to “Monologue Song (La La La)” during her Saturday Night Live opening monologue

The 19-year-old country superstar pretty much killed it, addressing a lot of her relationship issues covered in the tabloids. Here are some sample lyrics:

– “I like writing songs about douchebags who cheat on me but I’m not gonna say that in my monologue.”

– “You might think I’d bring up Joe [Jonas], that guy who broke up with me on the phone, but I’m not gonna mention him in my monologue. Hey Joe, I’m doing real well. Tonight, I’m hosting SNL but I’m not gonna brag about that in my monologue. La la la. Ha ha ha. La la la.”

– “And if you’re wondering if I might be dating the werewolf from Twilight. Hey Taylor [Lautner]! (blows kiss, winks) But I’m not gonna comment on that in my monologue.”

– “You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye [West] and how he ran up on stage and ruined my VMA monologue. But there’s nothing more to say cuz everything’s okay. I’ve got security lining the stage. It’s my SNL monologue.”

Taylor finished off the song by saying, “We have a great show. Kanye West is NOT here, so stick around. We’ll be right back.”

Democratic Health Care Package: Passed

After a long, hard, bloody, awful debate that brought out the worst in our national conversation, the Democratic health care package just passed by a vote of 220-215. An anti-abortion federal funding amendment sealed the deal. So: now what?

I don’t know. The lone Republican “Yea” vote for the bill was Joseph Cao of Louisiana, you know he’s gonna get trashcanned after school on Monday. Great, the Democrats made a huge-ass compromise for the Republican moral majority, I wonder what the Freakonomics guys will have to say about it, but you can bet your ass pro-choice activists are pissed. Meanwhile, the TVs gonna be filled with lots of talking heads tomorrow, many of whom will tell you how utterly fucked this country is, like this guy. People will be mad and people will be sad, and people will be happy and people will be elated, and people get their pockets lined.

And maybe, just maybe, one day, some parent with a kid who’s got a bad fever in the middle of the night won’t have to worry about taking him in to get checked out because they can’t afford it or they’ll get treated like shit, they’ll just do it. And it’ll be fine.

Eh. Big dreams. Was that even covered in the package? I don’t know. Yay. Health Care, I guess.

Katy Perry and her boyfriend, British funnyman Russell Brand, happily show off their love and hold hands as they leave his home in London on Friday night (November 6).

Earlier today, the 25-year-old songstress wrote on her Twitter, “I said ‘Geez you guys are so tan in these pictures!’ He said, ‘I have my camera on tan mode!’ THEY HAVE A TAN MODE OPTION ON CAMERAS?! WTF?”

Which camera has a tan more? We need one stat!

Adam Brody grabs a hot drink at Starbucks in between shooting his new movie, The Romantics, in New York’s Long Island on Saturday morning (November 7).

Yesterday, the 29-year-old actor was seen grabbing Starbucks with Dianna Agron, who recently explained why she’s not with the rest of the Glee cast back in L.A. She wrote, “I am so sorry that I won’t be able to attend the Barnes and Noble event today with the rest of the cast. I was given an incredible opportunity to work for the next month and we are on the east coast. We feel so lucky to have the support of our fans, and I had an amazing time meeting so many of you in New York this past week. Again, apologies, but do not fear, the ones you will be meeting today are gold. I already miss them very much.”
